About Us

Founded in 2011, Nona Rara was established with a vision to create modern and practical designs while preserving the cultural richness of batik and other traditional wastra. Rooted in a family business built by Atiek Octrina, Pipiet Noorastuti, and Yosep Dimas Suryasaputra, the brand carries a shared motivation: to make batik and wastra more approachable, not limited to formal occasions, but also embraced with confidence in daily life—especially by women in the workforce.

From the start, we have believed that batik should not feel distant or difficult to wear. It can be contemporary, versatile, and empowering, allowing women to feel both comfortable and stylish while honoring tradition.

Guided by the principle “From People to People,” Nona Rara has grown by listening closely to our community. Our loyal customers, affectionately called JengSis, inspire us to keep evolving. Together with local craftsmen and tailors, we design and produce pieces that combine quality, affordability, and timeless style—garments that carry heritage into both everyday life and special occasions.

Over time, what began as a brand has blossomed into a community movement. Through our initiative #BersamaNonaRara, we celebrate the people who wear our creations, the artisans who preserve the craft, and the communities who share our vision.

Along this journey, we have learned that preserving culture is best achieved through collaboration. By connecting with wastra enthusiasts and diverse communities, we not only share stories but also strengthen the cultural value of batik together.

Today, Nona Rara continues to grow, supported by those who believe in wastra and the people behind it. Every design we create is more than clothing—it is a story of heritage, community, and the spirit of togetherness.
